Harvey Cedars NJ for Sailing, Swimming and Seaside fun
Greetings from Harvey Cedars, NJ!
On the quiet end of Long Beach Island near Barnegat Light and framed by the ocean and Barnegat Bay, Harvey Cedars has attracted vacationers since the 1800's. Back then, families did not have much choice of vacation rental accommodations. The Harvey Cedars Hotel started as a boarding house run by a Civil War veteran, John Warner Kinsey, whose family is still part of Harvey Cedars history today.
Long Beach Island has transformed itself into a modern seaside resort with stunning beach front and bay side houses and condominiums. But activites for families haven't changed all that much. The beach is well guarded for swimming and surfing. Clamming, Crabbing, boating, sailing, and fishing are still the summer choice for popular things to do.
Here children can enjoy some very unusual summer fun. There's the Blue Claw Crab Race where people enter their crabs in competition. Harvey Cedars offers several different kinds of summer camps for art and soccer. Sunset Park offers evening concerts and art festivals. Biking outings, a world series of surf fishing, a kids visit to the Firehouse - this town has so many home grown pleasures they can't all be listed here.Vacationers are very welcome to make Harvey Cedars their own home away from home this summer.
